Cumbre Kids values: a message for parents about our children's content
Hello Parents,
We’re truly grateful for the trust of the families who listen to us, and we understand how much parents care about what their children watch and hear. That’s why we want to share the foundations that inspire the values in our episodes.
We believe parents and caregivers are the most important influence in their children’s lives, and our role is to support you as best we can.
Our #1 priority is to create content that brings families together and that inspires children to live with learning and connection.
We are not a political organization.
We strive to make content that is fun to enjoy for families, and almost none of our content would be considered controversial.
We believe our format featuring scientists and science communicators makes our programs more trustworthy, more interesting, and more inspiring for families.
However, in the course of discussing science and featuring scientists from many backgrounds, sometimes topics arise that may stir strong feelings or involve tradeoffs between certain values. In these infrequent instances, these are the questions we ask ourselves:
Does the content include political or controversial messages? (avoid whenever possible)
Is the content directly relevant to the episode focus? (remove if not directly relevant to the episode content)
Is it presented in a way that’s proportional to its importance in the episode? (do not allow it to distract disproportionately)
Sometimes we make mistakes, and we try to learn from them. Other times, we have to make difficult decisions between conflicting values, and we do the best we can.
We hope you understand that our team strives every day to give families like yours content that you can enjoy together.
